Best powder skis (2026/27)
A shortlist from the reviewed 2026/27 catalogue. Betterskis has not tested these skis itself: the selection uses each ski’s reviewed suitability, the manufacturer’s specifications and the independent tests linked on its page.
A powder ski is a specialist. Its job is to stay on top of deep snow, keep the tips up and let you make loose, surfy turns, ideally while staying predictable when the snow gets heavy or tracked. On a firm groomed run it will feel slow to change edges, and a narrower ski will grip better.
This list covers reviewed freeride skis with a waist of 108 mm or more, which is where flotation becomes the main design goal. Beyond width, look at the rocker profile: long, early-rising tips and often rockered tails help the ski plane and release in deep snow. A long listed radius on these skis matters less than you might expect, because rocker shortens the edge that is in contact when the ski is flat.
Weight and construction decide how a powder ski feels in mixed snow. Heavier skis with metal stay calm through chop and at high speed; lighter, softer ones are more playful and less tiring in tight trees. Powder skis are usually skied long, at or above head height, because rocker reduces the effective length. If you only see deep snow a few days a season, a 100 to 106 mm freeride or all-mountain ski is a more versatile single choice.

AtomicMAVERICK 115 CTI
The Atomic Maverick 115 CTI is a dedicated big-mountain powder ski for deep snow, open faces and skiers who want a wide platform that can still be pushed. Choose it for big, open powder and freeride lines where stability and float matter more than quick edge changes. It can work in trees when the snow is soft, but a 105 CTI is easier to manoeuvre for ordinary resort powder, and a narrower ski is more precise on firm snow.

SalomonS/LAB QST Blank
The 2027 S/LAB QST Blank is Salomon's directional freeride ski for skiers who want a broad, supportive platform when the mountain is soft, steep or chopped up. Choose it for powder, trees, open bowls and storm-day chop when stability and float matter more than quick edge changes. It is too wide and substantial to be the quickest everyday piste ski, and a wider powder specialist will offer more lift in bottomless snow.

SalomonS/LAB QST X
The Salomon S/LAB QST X is a dedicated powder ski for deep days, open bowls and soft-snow lines through the trees. Choose the QST X for an advanced or expert skier whose priority is playful powder skiing. A narrower, more substantial resort ski is a better everyday choice when soft snow is the exception.

AtomicBENT 110
The Atomic Bent 110 is a soft-snow freeride ski for powder days, trees, side hits and backcountry freestyle. Choose it for slashes, butters, switch landings and quick direction changes rather than high-speed bulldozing. A heavier freeride ski is better for sustained speed or tracked snow, and a narrower ski is more precise on hardpack.

Black CrowsCorvus
The 2027 Black Crows Corvus is a 110 mm big-mountain ski for advanced skiers who prioritize open terrain, speed and powder days. Choose it for open bowls, soft snow, steep freeride lines and fast linking turns; the added tail rocker and taper give it more steering range in tighter terrain than the long radius suggests.

BlizzardCanvas 118
The Blizzard Canvas 118 is a powder-focused freeride ski from the new 2027 Canvas collection. Choose the Canvas 118 for an advanced or expert skier who regularly seeks deep snow and enjoys a centered, playful style. The width requires more deliberate edge changes on hardpack, and a skier who wants to drive straight through rough snow may prefer a more substantial metal-supported design.

RossignolMen's SENDER 118 OPEN
The Rossignol Sender 118 is a dedicated deep-snow freeride twin for storm days, big lines and skiers who spend most of their time away from groomers. Choose it for advanced and expert skiers who want flotation and a composed platform in deep snow, chopped powder and big terrain. This is a dedicated powder ski rather than an everyday resort compromise: the narrower Sender 110 or Soul 102 covers a broader mix of conditions.

RossignolSENDER 110 OPEN
The Rossignol Sender 110 is a wide freeride twin for open bowls, deep snow and resort days spent chasing soft turns. Choose the Sender 110 for advanced and expert skiers who want a powerful soft-snow ski that can still carve the groomer back to the lift. That composure comes with a compromise: tight trees and moguls take more effort, particularly when the skier stops driving it.

DynastarM-Free 108 Open
The Dynastar M-Free 108 Open is a directional freeride twin for skiers who want to surf soft snow, slash through trees and still link turns back to the lift. SkiEssentials testers found it light and versatile, with its strongest case in powder, trees and variable off-piste terrain; it remains usable on groomers, though it is a wide ski to drive on hardpack all day. For a more directional, firm-snow biased option, the M-Pro 100 Ti is the sharper contrast.
