Overview

The 2027 Faction Studio 2 is a 102 mm freestyle all-mountain twin for skiers who want park pop and switch skiing alongside real off-piste and groomer use. The Studio line gives it a more freestyle-focused identity than Faction’s Dancer series, while the 102 mm platform gives more flotation than a narrow park ski.

A poplar and fiberglass core is reinforced with 8–12 full-length carbon stringers, which add stiffness and response without adding metal-laminate mass. A carbon/rubber stomp pad sits underfoot to absorb impact, and the raised twin tail supports switch landings. SkiEssentials testers described it as light, responsive and playful, with strong pop and a stable feel through the turn; its 102 mm width and freestyle shape make it less quick edge-to-edge than narrower skis.

Choose the Studio 2 if you want to use the whole resort as a freestyle playground, from park jumps and side hits to trees and softer snow. It fits intermediate through expert skiers who value pop, switch capability and a balanced twin-tip feel. If firm-snow carving and fast edge changes matter most, the narrower Dancer models are more suitable; if deep powder is the priority, move to a wider ski.

Construction & features

What the Studio 2 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Poplar and fiberglass core

Poplar provides a lively, flexible wood core; fiberglass layers add strength and torsional support for everyday all-mountain use.

  2. 02

    Carbon stringers

Eight to twelve carbon strips are woven into the fiberglass on both sides of the core. Faction says they add stiffness and stability without much bulk.

  3. 03

    Carbon and rubber stomp pad

This reinforcement protects and strengthens the ski beneath the binding area while carbon and rubber help absorb vibration from hard landings.

  4. 04

    Directional twin-tip shape

The tip is wider than the tail for forward drive, while twin tip height at both ends supports switch skiing and park landings.

  5. 05

    Elliptical sidecut

Longer radius underfoot with shorter radii near the ends is designed to pivot easily and initiate turns with less effort.

  6. 06

    Flat ski

Bindings are sold separately; listed weights exclude binding hardware.
