Overview

The 2027 Faction Prodigy 1 is the narrower, park-focused member of the Prodigy line: an 88 mm directional twin for skiers who spend time on groomers, in the park and on resort features. Its narrower platform changes edges quickly and is easier to manage for repeated takeoffs and landings than a wider soft-snow ski.

Faction pairs poplar with ash in the core: poplar contributes flex and rebound, while ash adds stiffness and durability. The carbon-and-rubber stomp pad reinforces the binding zone, and full-strength sidewalls with oversized edges are intended for hard use. SkiEssentials testers described a light, playful feel and useful edge control on softer hardpack, but found its grip less convincing on ice and its composure limited when pushed at high speed.

Pick the Prodigy 1 if park laps and quick resort turns matter more than flotation or charging through chopped snow. It suits intermediate through expert freestyle skiers, with enough width for ordinary resort conditions. If icy pistes, deep powder or sustained speed dominate your days, a ski with stronger edge bite, more mass or more surface area is a better fit.

Construction & features

What the Prodigy 1 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Poplar and ash core

The wood core combines poplar, which adds flex and rebound, with ash that contributes stiffness and durability for a more supported platform.

  2. 02

    Carbon and rubber stomp pad

This reinforcement underfoot combines carbon with rubber, aiming to strengthen the binding area and reduce impact vibration from hard landings.

  3. 03

    Full-strength sidewalls and XL edges

Full-height sidewalls transfer force to the edges; oversized edges are designed to handle repeated impacts and hard park use.

  4. 04

    Directional twin shape

A raised tail makes switch skiing and freestyle takeoffs practical while the directional shape remains useful for ordinary forward skiing.

  5. 05

    Elliptical sidecut

Faction’s elliptical sidecut blends different turn radii along the ski so it can initiate and release turns without forcing one fixed arc.

  6. 06

    Flat ski

Bindings are sold separately; the listed ski weight excludes binding hardware.
