Overview
The 2027 Nordica Santa Ana 87 is the narrow, frontside-leaning member of the women’s Santa Ana range, built for skiers who want quick edge changes without giving up all-mountain reach. Its 87 mm waist and 15–17 metre radii favor carved turns on firm snow, while the 150–173 cm size range offers useful choices for lighter and stronger skiers. The ski is sold flat with Marker Griffon 13 Twincam or Marker Squire 11 suggested separately.
Nordica’s TSM Pulse Core combines a full Performance Wood core with an elastomer Pulse layer and terrain-specific metal. On this narrower ski, the titanal layer is proportionally wider underfoot, putting more support and damping where edge control matters on hard snow. The Pulse layer smooths vibration without erasing rebound, while All-Mountain rocker and the Unlocked Tail Shape ease pivoting in bumps and tighter terrain. True Tip trims heavy ABS from the nose and extends lightweight wood forward, reducing swing weight while preserving a stable platform.
Choose the Santa Ana 87 for an advanced or expert skier whose season is mostly groomers, firm bumps and mixed resort snow. SkiEssentials’ exact 2027 test highlights quick feedback, edge grip and a sturdy, frontside-oriented feel, with enough shape to explore beyond the trail. It is less suitable for deep snow than the wider Santa Ana models and still rewards active input. The Santa Ana 92 offers more soft-snow support and a rounder all-mountain balance; a lighter ski may suit an intermediate who values effortless steering.
Construction & features
What the Santa Ana 87 is built from, and what that means on snow.
- 01
TSM Pulse Core
The full wood core, terrain-specific metal and Pulse elastomer combine support with vibration control, giving the narrow Santa Ana a smooth but responsive feel.
- 02
Terrain Specific Metal
Nordica widens the metal proportionally underfoot on narrower skis, concentrating stability and edge control where the 87 spends most of its time.
- 03
Unlocked Tail Shape
Extra tail rise improves pivoting at slower speeds and in bumps while keeping enough tail support for a committed carved turn.
- 04
True Tip
Lightweight wood extends farther into the tip as heavy ABS is reduced, lowering swing weight and making turn entry more maneuverable.
- 05
All-Mountain rocker/camber
Rocker at the ends helps the ski release in variable snow while camber underfoot preserves grip on firm piste.
- 06
87 mm flat platform
The narrow waist moves rapidly between edges and favors groomers, but offers less flotation than the 92 or wider Santa Ana models.
