Overview

The 2027 Black Crows Captis is a 90 mm all-mountain twin for skiers who want quick edge changes on piste and an easygoing feel in bumps, trees and the park. The official 2026/27 workbook marks it as a carryover, not a new redesign. Its narrower platform changes edges readily, and the tail releases easily without making the ski a dedicated park model.

The build uses a poplar wood core with fiberglass, semi-cap construction and ABS sidewalls. Medium camber underfoot helps it hold an edge on groomers, while double rocker shortens the contact points and makes it easier to pivot in tight terrain. Black Crows describes its flex as tolerant and progressive. SkiEssentials’ 2027 test characterizes the Captis as playful and responsive, with quick edge changes and useful grip; it favors accessibility over the damping and top-end power of a metal-laminated ski.

The Captis suits intermediate and advanced skiers who divide their days among groomers, bumps, trees and occasional freestyle laps, especially where snowfall is modest. At 90 mm underfoot it is quicker edge to edge than the Camox and easier to steer in narrow spaces, but offers less support in deeper snow. Expert skiers can enjoy its lively feel, though those who routinely charge through heavy chop or want maximum high-speed stability should look to a stronger, heavier construction.

Construction & features

What the Captis is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Poplar core and fiberglass

The poplar wood core supplies the ski's central structure; fiberglass layers reinforce it without the weight and stiffness of a metal laminate.

  2. 02

    Double rocker with medium camber

Rocker at both ends makes the ski easier to pivot and release, while camber underfoot supports edge contact on groomed snow.

  3. 03

    Semi-cap construction with ABS sidewalls

The semi-cap build uses ABS sidewalls around the edges to help transfer pressure from the binding area to the snow while keeping the extremities lighter.

  4. 04

    Flat ski, bindings sold separately

This is the ski-only configuration shown in the workbook. Bindings are not included and must be selected separately.
