Overview

The 2027 Armada ARV 94 Madsteez is a playful all-mountain twin for skiers who want to use the whole resort as a freestyle playground. Its 94 mm waist and near-symmetrical shape make it at home linking groomers, weaving through trees and taking park laps, while the raised tip and tail suit switch skiing. Armada gives the 2027 ARV 94 a new Madsteez graphic option; the ski's construction carries over.

A poplar core gives the ski a lively, predictable platform, and camber underfoot adds rebound for jumps and carving. Armada's AR Freestyle Rocker raises both ends to make the ski easier to pivot and less likely to catch on uneven lips or landings. That loose, balanced shape helps with presses and switch takeoffs, but it does not have the directional leverage of a pronounced tail or the metal reinforcement of a charger. The ash binding insert supports screw retention, while W3Dgewall joins a molded sidewall to the core to balance edge support, durability and weight.

This is a good fit for confident intermediates through experts who like a light, mobile ski and want park capability without being confined to the park. SkiEssentials' 2027 testers found it nimble and playful, with useful composure across resort terrain, but their comments also point to modest edge grip when pushed hard on firm snow and less calmness than a heavier ski at speed. It can carve between freestyle laps, though a directional frontside ski will hold a stronger line on ice, and a wider freeride ski will float better in deep snow.

Construction & features

What the ARV 94 MADSTEEZ is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    100% poplar core

Armada says its poplar core delivers stability, power and pop without excess weight. The practical result is a lively platform for ollies and jumps that remains predictable when skiing around the resort.

  2. 02

    AR Freestyle Rocker

Rocker at the tip and tail reduces the chance of catching on rutted takeoffs and landings, and makes it easier to release or pivot a turn. Camber underfoot maintains edge contact and rebound.

  3. 03

    Ash binding insert

A hardwood insert beneath the binding screws is intended to improve screw retention, useful for a ski that may see repeated park impacts.

  4. 04

    W3Dgewall

The three-dimensional molded sidewall is angled where it meets the wood core. Armada describes this geometry as a way to retain durability and performance while reducing weight.

  5. 05

    2.5 Impact Edge

The oversized, heat-treated edge is designed to resist impact damage from hard use, including park laps.

  6. 06

    S7 sintered base

The S7 sintered base is specified for speed, durability and wax retention; regular waxing is still needed to maintain glide.

  7. 07

Flat ski — bindings sold separately

This is the flat ski-only version. Bindings are not included and must be selected, mounted and adjusted separately.
