The Salomon S/MAX 12 + I12 TL GW is a performance piste package for skiers who enjoy fast, clean carved turns on firm snow. Its 68 mm waist puts the emphasis on quick edge changes, with compact radii in the shorter lengths and longer arcs in the 175 and 180 cm options. The supplied P749 plate and I12 TL GW binding complete a dedicated resort carving setup.

A karuba and poplar core sits between two Titanal layers, giving the ski substantial support for pressuring an edge. Power Control System cork inserts in the upper metal layer near the tip and tail reduce vibration while retaining a strong platform through the turn. Full sandwich construction and thick ABS sidewalls transmit pressure to the edges. Modest tip rocker helps the ski enter a turn, while camber and the relatively flat tail favor a sustained carve rather than a loose, pivoting exit.

Choose it for an advanced or expert skier who spends most days on prepared runs and likes an active, directional approach. The construction offers support on hard snow but asks for more commitment than a soft recreational carver. Its narrow shape gives little flotation in powder, and the strong tail is less accommodating of casual drifting. A wider, more rockered ski makes more sense for regular exploration beyond the piste.
