Overview
The 2027 Salomon QST 106 Almond Milk is a substantial freeride ski for skiers who prioritize soft snow and want support when fresh tracks turn to chop. Its 106 mm waist and progressive outline supply more flotation than the QST 100, while keeping a usable edge for connecting groomers. The Almond Milk artwork carries forward alongside the new Black/Pink option; both editions share the verified shape and construction. This is a flat ski with bindings sold separately.
The full poplar core gives the ski a steady, lively centre, while basalt and fiberglass reinforce the flex without making it a full-metal ski. Cork Damplifier 2 in the tip and tail reduces harsh vibration, and the sandwich sidewalls pass pressure cleanly to the edges. A 22% tip rocker and 18% tail rocker help the ski rise and pivot in soft snow; camber beneath the boot keeps it predictable when the surface firms up. Testers found this platform strong and damp but unusually easy to steer for its size, with a slower edge-to-edge response on groomers than a narrower daily ski.
Choose it for an advanced or expert skier who wants a supportive platform for storms, trees, bowls and varied resort snow. The 2027 test finds it easy to steer for its size, but its width and weight still make it a more substantial ski than a narrower daily option. Lighter or less powerful skiers may find it demanding in tight or firm conditions. A piste ski changes edges faster on hardpack, while a wider powder specialist supplies more lift when the snow is especially deep.
Construction & features
What the QST 106 Almond Milk is built from, and what that means on snow.
- 01
Full Poplar Woodcore
The full poplar core gives the 106 a supportive flex with useful rebound through changing snow.
- 02
Basalt and fiberglass laminate
Basalt and fiberglass reinforce the ski with strength and energy while preserving a more elastic feel than a full metal laminate.
- 03
Cork Damplifier 2
Cork Damplifier 2 in the tip and tail absorbs high-frequency chatter and keeps the ends smooth in tracked snow.
- 04
Full Sandwich Sidewalls
Full sandwich sidewalls transfer edging force directly to the steel edges for dependable grip when snow becomes firm.
- 05
Ti Binding Reinforcement
The titanal reinforcement underfoot spreads binding loads and adds support beneath the skier's stance.
- 06
22%/18% freeride rocker
Rocker at both ends helps the 106 float and release while camber underfoot retains support through a turn.
- 07
Skis only — bindings sold separately
The product is ski-only; compatible bindings must be selected and mounted separately.
