Overview
The 2027 Salomon QST 100 is a soft-snow leaning all-mountain ski for people who want one pair to connect groomers, trees and storm-day side hits. Its 100 mm waist gives it more float and lateral support than a frontside ski, while the model returns for 2027 with the same shape and construction and a new Black graphic. The current Salomon page positions it for mixed snow and freeride use, and the flat package leaves binding choice to the skier.
A full poplar core supplies a lively platform, with basalt fibers in the fiberglass laminate adding energy through the middle. Salomon's Cork Damplifier sits in the tips and tails to absorb vibration, while full sandwich sidewalls and a titanal reinforcement underfoot support edge pressure on hard snow. The rocker-camber-rocker profile, taper and relatively central mount make the QST 100 easy to pivot and quick to release; SkiEssentials testers found it nimble and smooth, though less locked-in than more directional skis when carving fast on firm snow.
Choose it if you spend as much time in variable terrain and soft snow as on marked runs and want a playful, forgiving ski that rewards active steering. Strong intermediates can grow into it, while advanced and expert skiers will appreciate its broad range and quick turn feel. It is not the best tool for icy piste carving, sustained high-speed charging or deep days where a wider ski provides more float.
Construction & features
What the QST 100 Black is built from, and what that means on snow.
- 01
Full Poplar Woodcore
The full poplar core balances low weight with a lively, stable platform and direct ski-to-snow contact.
- 02
Cork Damplifier
Cork in the tip and tail absorbs vibration so the ski stays quieter in chopped snow without adding a heavy damping layer.
- 03
Basalt and fiberglass laminate
Basalt fibers embedded in fiberglass add spring and support through the center of the ski while retaining a manageable flex.
- 04
Ti Binding Reinforcement
A titanal insert underfoot spreads pressure across the ski and improves edge support on firmer snow; it does not turn the ski into a race carver.
- 05
Full Sandwich Sidewalls
Full-height sandwich sidewalls transfer pressure cleanly to the edges for grip and predictable contact.
- 06
Rocker-camber-rocker freeride profile
Rocker at both ends with camber underfoot helps the ski float and pivot in soft snow while preserving rebound and edge contact on piste.
- 07
Skis only — bindings sold separately
The flat ski is supplied without bindings, so the binding and mounting setup must be selected separately.
