Overview

The Rossignol Nova 8 Xpress is a women’s piste ski for accomplished skiers who enjoy committing to an edge on groomed snow. A 75 mm waist and pronounced sidecut favor quick transitions and linked short turns, with 9–12 metre radii across the offered lengths. This version uses the Xpress system interface, combining a dedicated frontside shape with a convenient resort binding setup rather than an unmounted flat ski.

Its poplar core is reinforced by Carbon Alloy Matrix, a carbon-and-basalt weave combined with fiberglass stringers for strength and a balanced response. V-Profile shapes the reinforcement to connect flex with rebound, while the Active Flex specification is intended for controlled all-day skiing. Full sidewalls transfer pressure to the edges. Traditional camber supports grip on firm pistes, and a small amount of tip rocker helps the shovel enter a turn. This is a reinforced carving build, rather than the soft entry-level construction its place below the Nova 10 might suggest.

Choose the Nova 8 for an advanced resort skier who wants precise, energetic turns without moving to a race-focused ski. It is best matched to prepared runs where a narrow platform and short sidecut can be used deliberately. Those same features leave little flotation in deep snow and less freedom for loose, surfy turns away from the piste. The Nova 10 adds a Titanal Beam for a different reinforcement approach; a wider all-mountain model makes more sense for frequent off-trail skiing.

Construction & features

What the NOVA 8 XPRESS is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    V-Profile

V-Profile balances longitudinal flex and torsional support so the ski is easy to bend into a turn.

  2. 02

    Carbon Alloy Matrix

A carbon-and-basalt diagonal weave combined with glass stringers reinforces the poplar core for power, stability and a balanced flex.

  3. 03

    Poplar wood core

Poplar provides a light, lively wood core for predictable rebound.

  4. 04

    Active Flex

Rossignol’s Active flex specification targets controlled, responsive all-day skiing, positioned between its softer Assist and more assertive Boost options.

  5. 05

    Traditional camber with tip rocker

Camber maintains edge contact and rebound on prepared snow; slight tip rocker helps engage the broad shovel smoothly.

  6. 06

    Oversized sidecut

The oversized sidecut encourages quick, controlled arcs and helps progressing skiers feel the edge engage.

  7. 07

    Xpress system

The Xpress system interface pairs the ski with a lightweight integrated binding setup.
