Overview

The 2027 HEAD Super Joy is a women’s frontside ski for groomer-focused skiers who want quick, manageable turns without the demanding feel of a metal race carver. Its 75 mm waist and round, relatively short sidecut make it easy to roll from edge to edge and keep a turn moving on packed snow. The 2027 test calls it a carryover with the same shape, construction and graphics as the previous season, despite newer general product-page language about a new shape.

A lightweight karuba wood core is paired with HEAD’s Carbon Sandwich Cap construction, Graphene, EMC vibration filtering and a structured UHM C base. The carbon-reinforced build adds support without the heavier feel of metal; HEAD says EMC filters vibration through the turn, and Allride Rocker keeps a small amount of rise at the ends with camber between them. On snow, testers found it easy to initiate and maneuver, but some noted a subdued finish to the turn and less edge bite when conditions became rough or icy.

Choose the Super Joy if you ski mostly groomers, are building carving skills, or prefer a light, forgiving ski for cruising and easy bumps. It suits intermediates through advanced skiers who value accessibility over a forceful, high-speed finish. The 75 mm platform offers a little more room than a narrow piste ski, but it remains a frontside tool: it will not provide the grip of a race-oriented carver or the float and support of an all-mountain ski away from groomed snow. This representative HEAD configuration includes the JOY BB SLR Pro base and SLR 11 GW binding.

Construction & features

What the Super Joy is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

Karuba wood core and Carbon Sandwich Cap

HEAD uses a light karuba wood core with carbon-reinforced sandwich construction. The carbon layers add support without the weight and firm, demanding feel of a metal laminate.

  2. 02

    EMC vibration filtering

HEAD describes EMC as filtering negative vibrations through a turn. The aim is a smoother ride as the ski crosses firm or uneven groomed snow.

  3. 03

    Allride Rocker and women-specific camber

Allride Rocker blends modest tip rise and camber underfoot; HEAD also identifies a women-specific camber profile. This supports easier turn entry while retaining a firm platform underfoot.

  4. 04

    Structured UHM C base

The structured UHM C base is HEAD’s high-performance base material with a surface structure intended to promote glide.

  5. 05

JOY BB SLR Pro base and SLR 11 GW binding

This representative package uses the JOY Better Balance SLR Pro integrated base and an SLR 11 GW binding. The base is designed to maintain a consistent ramp angle; the binding is part of this package.
