Overview
The 2027 Faction Prodigy 4 is the widest member of the Prodigy family, a 116 mm twin built for deep snow, soft resort days and playful freeride lines. Its broad platform favors flotation and a surfier feel in powder, while the raised tail leaves room for switch takeoffs, landings and creative slashes. This is a powder-leaning ski with more freestyle range than a directional charger.
Faction uses a poplar core between fiberglass layers, pairing flex and rebound with structural support. The sintered base, full-strength sidewalls and oversized edges are specified for durability. Its Elliptical Sidecut puts a longer arc underfoot and shorter arcs toward the ends, helping the wide ski pivot and engage turns without forcing one radius. Faction also describes a progressive flex with support beneath the boot and smoother flex at tip and tail.
Choose the Prodigy 4 if powder and soft snow are the main draw and you want a twin-tip that can butter, slash and ski switch. Its 116 mm waist and substantial weight make it less nimble on firm, crowded pistes and more work for everyday carving than the narrower Prodigy 2 or 3.
Construction & features
What the Prodigy 4 is built from, and what that means on snow.
- 01
Poplar and fiberglass core
The poplar core is designed to flex and rebound; fiberglass layers add strength and torsional support for a wide ski that still has freestyle flex.
- 02
Elliptical sidecut
Faction describes a longer radius beneath the foot and shorter radii near the tip and tail. This supports easy pivoting through the center and easier turn entry at the ends.
- 03
Directional freeride twin tip
The raised tail supports switch skiing and freestyle movement, while its directional dimensions keep more platform in the tip for forward powder skiing.
- 04
Full-strength sidewalls and XL edges
Full-height sidewalls transfer pressure toward the edges; the oversized edges are intended to take more wear from hard use.
- 05
Sintered base
The sintered base is intended for glide and durability and needs regular waxing for best performance.
- 06
Flat ski
Bindings are sold separately; the listed weight excludes binding hardware.
