Overview

The 2027 Faction Dancer 99 is a lighter, metal-free all-mountain freeride ski for people who want a calm ride without the effort of a Titanal build. At 99 mm underfoot, it has enough surface for soft snow and variable resort conditions while staying manageable on groomers. Its flatter tail and more directional shape favor confident forward skiing over park use or regular switch laps.

A poplar core and fiberglass layers keep the build lively, while camber underfoot supports edge contact and rocker at the ends helps release turns and pivot through mixed snow. Faction’s Elliptical Sidecut combines a longer radius underfoot with shorter radii toward the tip and tail, so the center pivots readily and the ends help start turns. The 2027 version is the new metal-free member of the Dancer family; SkiEssentials testers found it lighter and more agile than the 99 Ti while retaining useful composure in variable terrain.

Pick the Dancer 99 if you ski across groomers and off-piste terrain and want a forgiving, less demanding daily ski. Its accessible flex and reduced mass suit confident intermediates through advanced skiers. If you prioritize hard-charging stability at speed, the Dancer 99 Ti adds two Titanal layers; if you want switch landings and park laps, choose a true twin-tip instead.

Construction & features

What the Dancer 99 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Poplar and fiberglass core

The lightweight poplar and fiberglass construction aims for flex, rebound and torsional support without a metal laminate.

  2. 02

    Metal-free Dancer construction

The non-Titanal version removes the two metal sheets used in the 99 Ti, reducing weight and effort and giving the ski a more maneuverable, playful feel.

  3. 03

    Elliptical sidecut

The radius is longer beneath the boot and shorter toward the tip and tail. The center supports easy pivoting while the ends help initiate turns.

  4. 04

    Progressive flat-tail shape

Rocker at tip and tail eases turn entry and pivoting; camber underneath supports grip, while the flatter tail provides support and drive on forward turns.

  5. 05

    XL edges and full-strength sidewalls

Faction’s XL edges use more steel for durability and contact with snow, and the full-strength sidewalls support power transfer to the edges.

  6. 06

    Flat ski

Bindings are sold separately; the published ski weight excludes bindings.
