Overview

The 2027 Extrem Icon 90 is a women-specific frontside ski for confident carving on hardpack, groomers and the softer, bumpier snow that develops through the day. Its 90 mm waist is wider than a narrow piste specialist, and lengths from 156 to 169 cm suit a range of skier heights and preferred turn shapes. Shorter sizes change direction quickly; longer ones bring a broader, more stable platform.

A poplar core sits between two full-width Titanal layers, which support edge grip and help steady the ski on firm snow. Light rocker in the tip and tail and a tapered shape make turn entry and release easier than the metal construction might suggest. Rubber damping adds another means of settling vibration. The ski is still built to be driven: the metal layers add weight and strength, but require active technique if you want to exploit their grip and stability.

Choose the Icon 90 if you mainly ski resort pistes, want secure carving through changing snow, and prefer a ski with enough width to handle bumps and soft spring conditions. Freeride’s 2027 testers rated it 4.3/5; one praised its stability and playfulness in rough snow, while another felt the tip could catch in bumps because the rocker is modest. That balance makes it a capable frontside choice for intermediate through expert skiers, but less suited to deep powder or very low-effort cruising. Extrem sells it without bindings.

Construction & features

What the Icon 90 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Two full-width Titanal layers

Two full-width Titanal layers add edge grip and stability on hard snow, especially when skiing quickly or carving with pressure.

  2. 02

    Poplar wood core

Poplar provides a responsive, stable wood core under the metal laminates.

  3. 03

    Light tip and tail rocker

Light rocker at both ends helps the ski release and maneuver through chopped piste snow, though its modest amount can let the tip catch in bumps.

  4. 04

    Rubber damping

A 1.5 mm racing rubber insert in the tip and tail is intended to reduce vibration.

  5. 05

    Flat ski; bindings sold separately

The official product page offers a no-binding configuration; bindings are selected separately.
