Overview

The 2027 Extrem Icon 102 is a women-specific freeride ski for soft snow, trees and resort days that move between powder and groomers. Its 102 mm waist gives it useful flotation without the bulk of a wider big-mountain ski. The offered lengths are 167 and 176 cm, with 19 and 20 m radii respectively; the longer size adds a little more platform and stability for faster skiing.

The construction pairs a poplar core with fiberglass, rubber damping and rocker at the ends, without the Titanal strip used in some wider Extrem models. That lighter, less metal-reinforced build can make it easier to steer and release in trees and powder, while the rocker helps the tips rise and the tails let go when turning. The tradeoff is less mass and metal support to calm the ski at high speed on rough, firm snow. The sintered base is intended to glide well when waxed and maintained.

Choose the Icon 102 if you want a freeride ski for soft snow and mixed resort terrain, and prefer a less metal-reinforced build to a heavy charger. The 167 cm is the shorter option; the 176 cm offers a longer platform for larger turns. Its width offers more support in soft snow than a narrower frontside ski, but takes more effort to move edge to edge on hard pistes. Skiers who prioritize firm-snow grip and high-speed composure may prefer a narrower, metal-reinforced model. Extrem offers it without bindings.

Construction & features

What the Icon 102 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    102 mm waist

The 102 mm platform balances flotation in soft snow with a width that remains manageable on mixed resort days.

  2. 02

    Poplar core with fiberglass

A poplar wood core and fiberglass form the ski's structure; this model does not use the Titanal strip found on some wider Extrem skis.

  3. 03

    Rubber damping

Rubber damping is intended to reduce vibration, though the ski's lighter construction does not provide the mass of a metal-reinforced charger.

  4. 04

    Tip and tail rocker

Rocker at both ends helps the ski rise in powder and release more readily in trees and variable snow.

  5. 05

    Flat ski; bindings sold separately

The official product page offers a no-binding configuration; bindings are selected separately.
