Overview

The 2027 Blizzard Firebird Race Type MT is a narrow frontside ski for advanced and expert skiers who want a more compact turn than the Race Type LT. Its 67 mm waist and 14–16 metre radii are aimed at quick, precise arcs on firm groomers, with 167–179 cm lengths for agile or more stable preferences. Blizzard supplies the ski with a Race Plate Pro B interface; bindings are selected separately, so this is a component for a carefully configured carving setup.

The MT combines a Trueblend Race woodcore with 3 Full Ti Racing construction, Phenol sidewalls, World Cup running bases and full camber. The race-tuned core supports the center, while three Titanal layers add strength and damping when the skier drives the edge. Full camber maintains continuous contact on hard snow and returns energy at release. Compared with the LT, its tighter radii make quick direction changes easier, but the very narrow waist and stiff race-derived build still reward commitment and precise pressure rather than passive cruising.

Choose the Race Type MT for technically strong resort skiers who prefer short-to-medium carved turns and spend most days on prepared snow. The race-derived construction suits accurate edge pressure on firm snow, with little flotation for deep snow or tolerance for relaxed steering in bumps. The LT suits skiers who want longer, faster arcs; the SRC is quicker and more accessible for tight turns with an included binding package. Outside firm piste, a wider all-mountain ski is the better tool.

Construction & features

What the Firebird Race Type MT is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Trueblend Race Woodcore

The race-focused core places support underfoot while tuning the flex toward the ends, helping the MT stay composed through quick pressure changes.

  2. 02

    3 Full Ti Racing

Three Titanal layers add torsional strength and vibration damping so the narrow ski can hold an edge through fast carved turns.

  3. 03

    Phenol sidewalls

Phenol sidewalls provide a rigid, direct connection from the laminated body to the edge under high frontside loads.

  4. 04

    Full camber

Continuous camber maintains edge contact and stores energy for release, rewarding precise timing on hard snow.

  5. 05

    Race Plate Pro B interface

Race Plate Pro B is supplied as the ski interface; no binding is included, leaving the skier or shop to choose a compatible setup.

  6. 06

    67 mm short-turn platform

The narrow waist changes edges quickly and the compact radii favor tight groomer turns, with little flotation in soft snow.
