Overview

The 2027 Blizzard Firebird Race Type LT is an unusually narrow frontside ski for expert carvers seeking long, fast arcs on firm snow. At 67 mm underfoot with 17 or 19 metre radii, it is designed around deliberate edge angles and speed rather than quick, playful turns. Blizzard supplies the ski with its Race Plate Pro B interface while bindings are selected separately, so it is not a pre-mounted Firebird package.

Blizzard uses a Trueblend Race woodcore, 3 Full Ti Racing construction, Phenol sidewalls, World Cup running bases and full camber. The dense core and three Titanal layers supply strength and damping when driven hard; full camber maintains long edge contact on polished piste. The narrow waist and straighter sidecut reward a skier who can stay balanced over the front and keep pressure through the arc. They also make the ski demanding when speed drops, snow gets broken or the skier wants to drift rather than carve.

Choose the Race Type LT for an advanced or expert skier who treats groomers as a place to practise clean, powerful long turns and wants a race-derived frontside ski with a separate binding choice. Blizzard positions it as a frontside concept for expert skiers, with geometry that favors long arcs. A shorter-radius HRC or SRC is easier for quick resort laps; a wider ski is better outside firm piste.

Construction & features

What the Firebird Race Type LT is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Trueblend Race Woodcore

The race-focused core places denser support through the center of the ski so it stays composed under heavy edge pressure while the ends remain flex-tuned.

  2. 02

    3 Full Ti Racing

Three Titanal layers add substantial torsional strength and damping for a powerful, quiet edge hold at speed on firm snow.

  3. 03

    Phenol sidewalls

Phenol sidewalls provide a rigid, direct interface between the laminated ski and its edges, preserving accuracy when the ski is loaded hard.

  4. 04

    Full camber

Continuous camber maintains strong edge contact and stores energy for the next turn, but it asks the skier to manage pressure and release precisely.

  5. 05

    World Cup running base

The race-derived base is specified for fast glide on prepared snow; it does not turn this retail frontside ski into an FIS race model.

  6. 06

Race Plate Pro B, bindings separate

The supplied Race Plate Pro B provides the binding interface. Bindings are selected separately rather than included as a pre-mounted package.
