Overview

The Blizzard Canvas 118 is a powder-focused freeride ski from the new 2027 Canvas collection. Its 118 mm waist, substantial tip rocker and raised tail favor flotation, slashes and a creative approach to natural features. The three lengths from 172 to 188 cm span 17–20 metre radii. It offers a softer, more surf-oriented alternative to the metal-supported Rustler line.

A poplar and paulownia core sits inside a fiberglass-and-carbon light sandwich, with full ABS sidewalls transmitting pressure to the edges. This lightweight laminate favors elastic flex and lower swing weight over maximum damping. Light camber underfoot retains some contact between the rockered ends. In POWDER’s 2027 on-snow review, Max Ritter found easy turn initiation, abundant float and an energetic feel off natural features; the softer flex gave up some of the crud-busting suspension associated with Blizzard’s stronger freeride skis.

Choose the Canvas 118 for an advanced or expert skier who regularly seeks deep snow and enjoys a centered, playful style. It makes sense as a soft-day addition to a quiver rather than the default choice for firm resort conditions. The width requires more deliberate edge changes on hardpack, and a skier who wants to drive straight through rough snow may prefer a more substantial metal-supported design. A narrower Canvas or all-mountain ski is more practical when storms are infrequent. Bindings are selected separately.

Construction & features

What the Canvas 118 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Poplar + paulownia woodcore

The mixed woodcore balances low mass with enough longitudinal support to keep a wide powder ski from feeling lifeless.

  2. 02

    Fiberglass and carbon light sandwich

Fiberglass and carbon add structural support and torsional control while avoiding the mass of a full metal laminate.

  3. 03

Tip rocker, light camber and rockered tail

Pronounced tip rocker and a raised tail favor flotation and release, with light camber underfoot retaining useful contact through a turn.

  4. 04

    Full ABS sidewalls

Full ABS sidewalls give direct pressure transfer and protect the edge on a wide freeride platform.

  5. 05

    Flat ski

Bindings are selected separately; this is a ski-only listing.
