Overview

The 2027 Blizzard Anomaly 88 is a frontside-leaning all-mountain ski for hard groomers, bumps and the variable edges of a resort day. Its 88 mm waist keeps transitions quick enough for carving while its progressive tip and tail rocker add room to steer when snow softens or terrain gets uneven. The five-length range runs from 164 to 188 cm, and the blue-and-gold graphic marks a new season without changing the platform’s core brief.

Trueblend All Mountain uses longer, denser beech stringers through the middle and lighter poplar around them to tune flex by zone: supportive underfoot, more forgiving at the ends. FluxForm All Mountain uses four separate titanal pieces, which Blizzard says balance stability and playfulness, while the external metal protects the top edge from impacts. The early-rise tip and tail with six millimetres of camber underfoot favors clean edge engagement and predictable release rather than deep-snow float.

Choose the Anomaly 88 if carving performance and speed on firm snow matter most but you still want to explore bumps, trees and softer shoulders. SkiEssentials testers describe it as powerful, stable and unusually capable for its width, while also warning that its weight and stiffness demand an active skier. It fits advanced skiers through experts who like a directional, high-edge-angle style. A lighter or more rockered ski will be friendlier in deep snow and tight trees; a narrower piste ski will feel quicker for purely groomed laps.

Construction & features

What the Anomaly 88 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Trueblend All Mountain Woodcore

Uses denser beech stringers and lighter poplar zones to tune support underfoot with a more forgiving flex toward the ends.

  2. 02

    FluxForm All Mountain

Four titanal pieces add stability and damping while preserving more playfulness than a continuous metal sheet.

  3. 03

Early-rise tip and tail with 6 mm camber

Progressive rocker improves steering in bumps and softer snow; camber underfoot keeps the ski engaged on firm snow.

  4. 04

    Full ABS sidewalls

Full ABS sidewalls transfer pressure directly to the edges and protect the sandwich build.

  5. 05

    88 mm all-mountain platform

The 88 mm waist favors quick groomer transitions while retaining useful support beyond the piste.

  6. 06

    Flat ski

Bindings are selected separately; the manufacturer provides a suggested binding rather than an included system.
