Overview

The 2027 Salomon QST 94 Black is a versatile all-mountain ski for skiers who want quick piste transitions without giving up access to bumps, trees and soft snow. Its 94 mm waist is deliberately between frontside and freeride territory, and the Black graphic is the second current colorway alongside Lilac. Salomon positions the QST 94 as a freeride-inspired ski with a piste-friendly tail, supplied flat for a separate binding choice.

The full poplar core gives the ski a lively feel, while basalt-reinforced fiberglass and Cork Damplifier add support and vibration absorption. The wide tip helps it rise in softer snow; the shorter effective contact and tail rocker make edge changes quick and help the ski release a turn. Full sandwich sidewalls and titanal underfoot reinforce grip when the resort is firm. SkiEssentials' 2027 testers found the QST 94 quick and energetic in bumps, trees and soft snow, but reported less power than metal skis and occasional chatter on hardpack.

It suits progressing intermediates through advanced and expert skiers who value agile steering across mixed resort terrain. The 2027 test supports its accessibility, while individual testers differed on grip and playfulness on firmer snow. Its appeal is quick direction changes in bumps and glades rather than maximum stiffness and suspension at speed. A narrower piste ski offers more focused hard-snow precision, while the QST 100 or 106 supplies more surface area for deeper days. This Black edition shares the Lilac version’s verified construction and dimensions; color preference does not imply a different ride.

Construction & features

What the QST 94 Black is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Full Poplar Woodcore

The poplar wood core balances rebound, stability and manageable weight for everyday skiing.

  2. 02

    Cork Damplifier

Cork in the rocker zones damps vibration while preserving a responsive feel.

  3. 03

    Basalt and fiberglass laminate

Basalt fibers in fiberglass reinforce the middle of the ski with energy without a full metal laminate.

  4. 04

    Ti Binding Reinforcement

A titanal insert underfoot improves pressure transfer and edge support on firm snow.

  5. 05

    Full Sandwich Sidewalls

Full sandwich sidewalls give the edges a direct, predictable connection to the snow.

  6. 06

    20% tip rocker / 16% tail rocker

Raised tips and tails help the ski release and pivot as terrain changes, while camber underfoot supplies edge contact and rebound. The 94 is shaped more directionally than the QST 100.

  7. 07

Skis only — bindings sold separately

The ski is sold flat without bindings; choose and mount a compatible binding separately.
