Overview

The 2027 Salomon QST 106 is a wide, substantial freeride ski for advanced skiers who want a reliable platform for soft snow, trees and changing mountain conditions. Its 106 mm waist and progressive freeride shape give it more flotation and support than the QST 100, with a new Black/Pink graphic for 2027 and the shape and construction carried over, as confirmed by the 2027 SkiEssentials test. It is a flat ski, so bindings are selected and mounted separately.

The full poplar core and basalt-reinforced fiberglass laminate give the QST 106 a strong, energetic center, while Cork Damplifier in the tips and tails filters vibration. Full sandwich sidewalls and titanal reinforcement underfoot help it hold an edge when a powder day turns to hardpack. Its rocker-camber-rocker profile, taper and supportive tail blend flotation with a predictable release; SkiEssentials testers found it unusually easy to steer for its weight and length, but slower edge to edge on groomers than a narrower ski.

Pick the QST 106 when soft snow and freeride terrain are the priority and you want composure when the surface gets rough. Advanced and expert skiers can use its weight and backbone to run longer lines and stay stable at speed; lighter or less powerful skiers may find it demanding. A narrower, quicker ski is a better daily choice for firm pistes, and a substantially wider powder ski will float more on the deepest days.

Construction & features

What the QST 106 Black/Pink is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Full Poplar Woodcore

The full poplar core provides a supportive, lively platform and filters some vibration through the wood's natural flex.

  2. 02

    Cork Damplifier

Cork in the tip and tail damps high-frequency chatter while keeping the ski's ends relatively light and responsive.

  3. 03

    Basalt and fiberglass laminate

Basalt fibers in the fiberglass laminate reinforce the center of the ski with energy and strength without relying on a full metal sheet.

  4. 04

    Ti Binding Reinforcement

A titanal insert underfoot distributes pressure across the ski and improves grip when the snow becomes firm.

  5. 05

    Full Sandwich Sidewalls

Full sandwich sidewalls transmit edging force directly to the steel edges for stable, precise contact.

  6. 06

    Rocker-camber-rocker freeride profile

Rocker at both ends and camber beneath the boot help the 106 rise in powder and release a drift while retaining support through a turn.

  7. 07

Skis only — bindings sold separately

The flat ski is supplied without bindings; choose and mount a compatible binding separately.
