Overview

The Super Blackops Open is a 98 mm freeride ski for skiers who want a lively bridge between groomers, bumps and soft snow. Its 162–192 cm range covers smaller and taller riders, while the relatively short radius in the 162 keeps the ski quick before opening into longer arcs at 192. In Rossignol’s 2026/27 consumer collection it sits on the freeride side of the line, with an Open flat configuration rather than a fixed binding system.

A poplar wood core, directional rocker/camber/rocker profile and full sidewall construction aim to combine edge transmission with easy release. The 98 mm waist offers more float than a piste ski without the slow edge changes of a much wider powder tool. The progressive sidecut and 14–22 m radii let the skier vary turn shape by length and pressure. The Titanal Beam adds underfoot energy and edge support, while the ski remains best suited to active skiing where the rider drives the shovel and uses the rocker to pivot.

Choose it for an advanced skier who wants one freeride ski for mixed resort snow, trees and occasional powder while retaining useful hard-snow grip. It is a more versatile everyday choice than a 110 or 118 mm ski, but it will not plane as readily in deep snow. The firm, directional platform is less forgiving than a soft freestyle twin and less precise than a dedicated piste ski on boilerplate. Select length carefully: the longer options favor stability and open terrain, while shorter lengths turn faster for tighter spaces.
