Overview
The Rossignol Escaper 105 Nano Open is a touring ski for skiers who want substantial support in soft snow without using a heavy resort build. Its 105 mm waist favors powder turns and mixed mountain snow after the climb, with a broad shovel and tip-and-tail rocker to ease steering. This is the wider Escaper option, offered in 170–187 cm lengths and supplied flat for a separately selected touring binding.
A light poplar core and thin Nano Fiberglass reinforcement keep the construction focused on touring efficiency and elastic flex. A 0.4 mm Nano Titanal insert reinforces the binding area and adds targeted underfoot support, rather than a full metal laminate. Rectangular sidewalls transmit pressure to the edges. Aero Profile addresses swing weight, while the V-Skin Anchor provides a dedicated attachment for compatible climbing skins. Tip-and-tail rocker and an extended sidecut aim to balance turn release with useful edge contact.
Choose it for a touring skier who values flotation and a substantial platform when fresh snow is part of the objective. Its width is useful on the descent but makes less sense for someone primarily seeking a narrow, quick ski for firm traverses and hard-snow turns. The lightweight construction also favors a different balance from a heavily damped freeride ski when the snow is rough. The Escaper 88 narrows the brief toward mobility; the 105 makes more room for soft-snow performance.
