Overview
The 2027 Nordica Unleashed 120 is a specialist powder ski for deep storms, wide-open faces and skiers who would rather surf and pivot than hold a long carved line. At 120 mm underfoot with only 180 and 190 cm lengths, it is deliberately biased toward float and stability at speed. This is a flat ski; Nordica lists the Marker Griffon 13 as a suggested binding separately. SkiEssentials describes it as a carry-forward for 2027 after a mid-season release, so its identity is established without claiming a new construction.
Its Freeride Flow Shape uses generous rocker, a pronounced taper and a flatter overall profile to release the ski easily in deep snow. The Lite Performance Wood core is paired with carbon stringers and Drift Lock, a single metal strip tuned to the waist that adds composure and damping when the snow turns heavy or chopped. True Tip reduces heavy ABS at the nose and extends lightweight wood forward, keeping this very wide platform more maneuverable than its dimensions suggest. The result is a ski that can smear, slarve and plane high, then stay calm when a fast line gets rough.
Pick the Unleashed 120 for a strong advanced or expert skier with regular access to deep snow and open big-mountain terrain. SkiEssentials’ 2027 tester praised its flotation and composure in crud, chop and wet spring snow, while finding it less relevant in tight local terrain. It is a specialist addition to a quiver: the width slows edge changes and makes confined trees or firm traverses more demanding. The 114 or a narrower Unleashed is a more practical choice when most days bring mixed resort conditions.
Construction & features
What the Unleashed 120 is built from, and what that means on snow.
- 01
Lite Performance Wood + Drift Lock Metal + Carbon + Sidewall
The lightweight wood core and carbon stringers preserve rebound and reduce swing weight, while the waist-tuned Drift Lock metal strip adds damping and support when speed and snow resistance increase.
- 02
Freeride Flow Shape
Early rise in the tip and tail with camber underfoot and width-specific shaping helps the ski plane, pivot and smear in soft snow without becoming completely vague on tracked approaches.
- 03
True Tip
Nordica trims heavy ABS from the tip and extends light wood forward, reducing swing weight so a wide ski is easier to redirect and pop.
- 04
120 mm flat powder platform
The wide flat platform is designed around soft snow and freeride terrain; bindings are selected separately, with Marker Griffon 13 listed by Nordica as a suggested setup.
