Overview

The Fischer Transalp 105 CTI is a downhill-focused touring ski for skiers who earn turns in soft snow and still want support when the descent gets rough. Its 105 mm reference waist gives it a broad platform for powder, while the listed 22 m radius and directional tail suit open lines better than tight, quick turns. Fischer positions it as a freeride tourer; it is a specialized backcountry choice rather than a light everyday resort ski.

Fischer builds the ski around an ultra-light wood core milled with Air Tec, with carbon stringers and a shaped metal inlay. The lighter core and carbon help reduce climbing weight, while the shaped metal is intended to add torsional stiffness, edge grip and damping underfoot without the mass of a full metal laminate. Sandwich sidewalls transfer pressure to the edges, and Tour Rocker raises the shovel to help it plane and pivot in softer snow. The construction balances uphill efficiency with a more supportive descent feel.

Pick the Transalp 105 CTI for powder-oriented tours, bigger open terrain and skiers who care strongly about how the ski descends. Its width and longer turning shape are less suited to firm spring snow, tight trees or frequent kick turns; a narrower, shorter-radius touring ski will feel more agile there. Advanced and expert skiers with supportive touring boots are the best match. Touring bindings and climbing skins are separate; skiers seeking an everyday resort tool or stronger hard-snow grip should choose a narrower, more directional ski.

Construction & features

What the Transalp 105 CTI is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

Ultra Light Woodcore and Air Tec

The lightweight wood core and Fischer’s Air Tec construction are intended to reduce climbing weight while retaining support for the descent.

  2. 02

    Carbon stringers and shaped Ti

Carbon stringers help maintain a lively flex. Fischer describes Shaped Ti as a titanium inlay contoured to the ski geometry; it is intended to add stability without specifying its thickness on the captured page.

  3. 03

    Tour Rocker and sandwich sidewalls

The raised shovel helps the ski float and pivot in soft snow. Sandwich sidewalls support edge contact on firmer surfaces, though the wide touring shape is not optimized for hardpack carving.

  4. 04

Flat ski — touring bindings sold separately

This is the ski-only configuration. Touring bindings and climbing skins are purchased separately.
