Overview

The Fischer Nightstick 86 is a freestyle ski for park laps, slides and jumps, with a narrower platform than the wider Nightsticks. Its twin-tip shape is intended for riding both forwards and switch, while its modest waist makes it a practical choice for a park-focused resort day on firmer snow.

A poplar core and sandwich sidewalls form the ski’s structure. Fischer describes a localized Titanal insert in the binding area that helps protect edges against deformation on rails; it is not a sheet running the full length. Rocker at the tips and tails helps release the ski for pivots and switch riding, while camber underfoot provides support between turns. The sintered bases are built for repeated use and can be maintained with wax.

Choose the 86 if learning or refining park tricks, riding switch and skiing groomed approaches matter more than floating through deep snow. The 151–175 cm range offers shorter options for smaller riders and those who prefer a compact park ski. Its freestyle shape and stance are less directional than a piste carver, and its narrower platform is a compromise when powder gets deep. Skiers focused on charging rough off-piste terrain may prefer a wider, more directional ski.

Construction & features

What the Nightstick 86 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Poplar core and sandwich sidewalls

A poplar wood core provides the flex and rebound; sandwich sidewalls support pressure transfer to the edges.

  2. 02

    Titanal edge reinforcement

A Titanal insert around the binding area is intended to help protect edges from deformation on rails; it is not a full-length metal laminate.

  3. 03

    Freeski Rocker

Rocker at the ends makes it easier to release and pivot while camber underfoot supports grip on firmer snow.

  4. 04

Flat ski — bindings sold separately

This ski-only configuration is supplied without bindings, which are chosen and purchased separately.
