Overview

The 2027 Faction Prodigy 3 is a 106 mm directional twin for skiers who want a playful freeride shape with enough backbone for resort laps. Its broad platform and rockered ends favor soft snow, trees and natural features, while the cambered center and relatively supportive flex give it more groomer range than a dedicated powder twin.

A poplar-and-fiberglass core aims to balance spring with torsional support, and the sintered base is paired with full-strength sidewalls and oversized edges for durability. Faction’s Elliptical Sidecut uses a longer radius underfoot and shorter radii toward the ends: the center can pivot without locking into a tight arc, while the tips and tails help start turns. SkiEssentials testers found the ski unusually composed for a wide twin, with grip and stability on firm snow, but its mass is noticeable compared with lighter alternatives.

Choose the Prodigy 3 if soft-snow versatility and freestyle freedom matter more than quick edge changes or low swing weight. It suits advanced and expert skiers who want to ski the whole resort, particularly those who like an active style in soft snow. For mostly firm pistes or frequent park laps, the narrower Prodigy 1 or 2 will feel quicker and easier to move.

Construction & features

What the Prodigy 3 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Poplar and fiberglass core

Poplar supplies flex and rebound; fiberglass layers add strength and torsional support so the wide ski can remain lively while holding its shape.

  2. 02

    Elliptical sidecut

The radius is longer underfoot and shorter near the tip and tail. The longer center arc helps pivot easily; the shorter end arcs help the ski enter turns.

  3. 03

    Directional freeride twin

The tail rises for switch skiing and freestyle play, while a wider tip and narrower tail retain a directional bias for forward skiing and soft-snow support.

  4. 04

    Full-strength sidewalls and XL edges

Full-height sidewalls transfer force to the edges, and the oversized edge material is intended to tolerate hard use and impacts.

  5. 05

    Sintered base

Faction identifies a sintered base; it is a serviceable glide surface that benefits from regular waxing.

  6. 06

    Flat ski

Bindings are sold separately; the published ski weight excludes bindings.
