Overview

The 2027 Faction Dancer 89 is a relatively light all-mountain ski for resort skiers who want quick edge changes on groomers without giving up room to explore softer snow and bumps. Its 89 mm waist sits between frontside carvers and wider freeride skis; the flatter tail gives it a more directional finish than a park twin.

A poplar core and fiberglass layers keep the build lively without Titanal, while camber underfoot supports edge contact and tip/tail rocker helps release turns. Faction’s longer-radius center and shorter-radius ends let the ski pivot and start turns without locking it to a single arc. SkiEssentials testers praised its snappy edge-to-edge feel, approachable turn shapes and groomer/mogul versatility. One aggressive tester preferred the Ti version for its stronger torsional support, so this lighter model is less suited to skiers who want maximum damping at speed.

Choose the Dancer 89 if you want a nimble daily resort ski that rewards a mix of carved turns, bumps and off-trail detours. It suits confident intermediates through advanced skiers, including experts who prefer manageability over metal-driven power. For hard charging through chopped snow, the Dancer 89 Ti offers a more supportive construction; for regular powder days, choose a wider ski.

Construction & features

What the Dancer 89 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Poplar and fiberglass core

Poplar gives the ski a relatively light, lively flex; fiberglass layers add strength and torsional support without Titanal laminates.

  2. 02

    Metal-free Dancer construction

The non-Ti build uses no metal laminate, reducing weight and making it easier to maneuver than the Dancer 89 Ti, at the cost of some torsional support for aggressive skiing.

  3. 03

    Progressive flat-tail shape

Rocker at tip and tail eases turn entry and pivots, while camber underfoot supports grip; the flatter tail helps finish forward turns with support.

  4. 04

    Elliptical sidecut

A longer radius underfoot and shorter radii near tip and tail help the middle pivot easily and the ends enter turns readily.

  5. 05

    XL edges and full-strength sidewalls

Full-height sidewalls transfer pressure to the edges; XL edges add metal for wear resistance and edge contact on firm snow.

  6. 06

    Flat ski

Bindings are sold separately; listed weights exclude binding hardware.
