Overview

The 2027 Extrem Icon 96 is a women’s all-mountain ski for resort days that move between groomed runs, trees and softer snow. At 96 mm underfoot it has more platform for off-trail conditions than a frontside carver, while remaining narrow enough for regular edge-to-edge piste skiing. Extrem offers 158, 165 and 172 cm lengths, with radii that rise from 15 to 17 metres; choose shorter for quicker turns and a more manageable feel, or longer for a larger arc and more support.

A poplar core with lightweight fiberglass gives the Icon 96 a balance of liveliness and stability without a metal laminate. Rocker through the tip and tail, paired with a tapered shape, helps the ski release and pivot when the snow is soft or uneven. Camber underfoot and its moderate waist keep it connected on firmer groomers. The manufacturer also adds rubber damping at the tip and tail to reduce vibration.

Choose the Icon 96 if you want one resort ski for mixed snow and varied terrain, and value easier turn entry over the stronger hard-snow drive of a metal ski. Its 96 mm waist can handle soft snow and occasional touring approaches, but this is not a lightweight touring build and it will not match a wider ski in deep powder. The 158 cm option suits skiers seeking a quicker, shorter-turning feel; taller or faster skiers may prefer 165 or 172 cm. Extrem offers the ski without bindings, so the binding setup can be selected separately.

Construction & features

What the Icon 96 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Poplar wood core

Extrem describes the poplar core as lively and stable, providing the main flex and rebound of the ski.

  2. 02

    Lightweight fiberglass

Fiberglass reinforces the core. The pre-impregnated laminate helps distribute resin evenly through the ski.

  3. 03

Rocker and taper at tip and tail

Rocker and taper at both ends help the ski enter turns and release more readily in soft or uneven snow; camber underfoot maintains contact on firmer pistes.

  4. 04

    Rubber damping

Rubber inserts at the tip and tail are intended to reduce vibration as the ski crosses rough or hard snow.

  5. 05

    Flat ski; bindings sold separately

The official product page offers a no-binding configuration; choose bindings separately.
