Overview

The M-Free 94 Open brings Dynastar’s freeride-twin shape to a narrower, quicker platform for skiers who spend more time in trees, bumps and groomers than deep powder. At 92–94 mm underfoot across its lengths, it gives up flotation to the M-Free 100 and 108 but should feel easier to roll onto edge and redirect on firm or crowded runs. New for 2027, it fills the narrow end of the M-Free family with a softer, more playful brief than the metal-reinforced M-Pro skis. The Open model is sold flat, with bindings chosen separately.

Hybrid Core 2.0 pairs a three-direction poplar core with polyurethane and fiberglass. Dynastar says the wood layout reduces reliance on composite layers, while polyurethane helps smooth the response. Full sidewalls support edge engagement; long tip and tail rocker loosen the ends for easier release and pivoting. SkiEssentials testers called it quick, energetic and forgiving, with enough camber and edge hold to carve on firmer snow. Several liked its switch and freestyle potential, while its narrower waist limits float compared with wider freeride skis.

This suits skiers who want a creative, maneuverable resort ski and only occasional powder depth, rather than a dedicated powder tool. Capable intermediates can manage it, while advanced skiers can push its edge hold and playful shape. Its loose feel suits people who pivot and vary turn shape; skiers who prefer a planted ski for charging rough snow may prefer a more directional, metal-laminated design. Choose the M-Free 100 for more soft-snow support, or a narrower piste ski if hard-snow carving is the priority.

Construction & features

What the M-Free 94 Open is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Hybrid Core 2.0

Poplar wood and polyurethane combine a lively wood response with a smoother feel; Dynastar says the core design reduces glued composite layers.

  2. 02

    Three-direction wood core

The wood is arranged in three directions, allowing the manufacturer to favor natural wood fiber over additional composite layers.

  3. 03

    Progressive rocker

Long tip and tail rise loosen contact points so the ski releases and pivots more readily in tight terrain and softer snow.

  4. 04

    Adaptiv Sidecut

A gradual transition from waist to tip and tail geometry is intended to make turn entry and exit smoother.

  5. 05

    Full sidewalls

Full-length sidewalls transfer pressure to the edges for precise engagement on firmer snow.

  6. 06

    Sintered HD base

The sintered base is designed for glide across changing snow conditions.

  7. 07

    Open/flat ski

Bindings are sold separately; this is the ski-only Open configuration.
