Overview

The Dynastar M-Cross 88 Open is a frontside-leaning all-mountain ski for resort skiers who want a strong carving platform that can also leave the groomed run. At 88 mm underfoot, it has enough width for chopped snow and modest soft-snow laps, but its proportions point toward firm and mixed resort conditions. The 2027 test describes a graphic update with the same underlying construction. This Open configuration is sold without bindings.

Its Hybrid Core 2.0 combines poplar and polyurethane in a three-direction layup, supported by fiberglass and a central Titanal layer. Full sidewalls carry pressure to the edges, while Adaptativ Sidecut creates a gradual transition between the waist and the wider shovel and tail. That wide shovel helps the ski engage and float, but SkiEssentials testers note that it rewards pressure toward the front of the boot. Their feedback ranges from playful and easy to steer to powerful and precise on groomers; it is responsive, though not passive when pushed hard.

Choose it if you spend most of your day on piste and want a substantial, wider platform for bumps, trees and tracked snow. It suits skiers comfortable driving the ski and making purposeful turns. The wide tip can feel demanding if you stand back, and its 88 mm waist is less nimble edge to edge than a dedicated carver. A softer ski will be more forgiving at low effort; a wider freeride model will offer more float in sustained powder.

    Poplar and polyurethane core

Longitudinal, transverse and vertical wood layers are designed to support flex response, torsional control and compression resistance.

    Central Titanal layer

Titanal reinforcement supports a more powerful, stable ride through the central zone.

  4. 04

    Progressive rocker

Long-rise rocker at the ends helps the ski enter and release turns and move through soft snow.

  5. 05

    Adaptativ Sidecut

A gradual transition between waist and shovel/tail geometry supports fluid turn initiation and finish.

  6. 06

    Full sidewalls

Full-length vertical sidewalls transfer pressure to the edges for grip and precision.

  7. 07

    Sintered HD base

A sintered base is designed to glide across changing snow conditions.
