Overview
The Dynastar M-Cross 82 Open is a trail-leaning all-mountain ski for resort skiers who enjoy short, energetic turns and still want to slip into bumps or trees. Its narrow 82 mm waist changes edges quickly, while the broad shovel gives it a more supportive, playful feel than a traditional piste ski. The exact 2027 test describes a graphic refresh over unchanged construction. This Open model is explicitly sold without bindings.
A three-direction poplar-and-polyurethane Hybrid Core 2.0 is paired with fiberglass, full sidewalls and an H-Tech reinforcement. Dynastar says the core combines wood’s response with polyurethane’s smoother ride; the sidewalls carry pressure to the edges, and the short-radius shape helps the ski engage quickly. The pin-tailed outline releases more easily at the end of a turn. SkiEssentials testers found it quick, lively and smooth, with useful grip on firmer snow. Their reviews vary in enthusiasm, but the consistent theme is a nimble ski with a frontside bias.
Choose it if you spend much of your day on groomers and want an easy-turning ski that remains maneuverable in bumps and tight trees. Its 82 mm platform is not built for sustained deep snow, and the quick shape favors shorter arcs over high-speed, long-radius skiing. The ski rewards a balanced stance and active turning; a skier seeking a damp, heavy charger or broad powder platform should look elsewhere. Intermediate and advanced skiers can both make use of its accessible, responsive character.
