Overview

The Blizzard Zero G 105 is a wide touring ski for backcountry days when the descent and fresh snow justify carrying more surface area uphill. The 164 and 172 cm sizes have 103 mm waists, widening to 105 mm at 180 and 188 cm. Its radii range from 18 to 24 metres, with the longest sizes favoring open turns. Blizzard recommends a Pintech touring binding.

A paulownia core and Carbon Drive 3.0 reinforcement keep mass low while supporting the ski under load. The carbon chassis runs along the ski, with additional reinforcement around the binding zone. Early-rise tips and tails aid flotation and release, while camber keeps useful contact when the route crosses firmer snow. Partial ABS sidewalls provide edge support without a full resort construction. The wide platform helps it plane in soft snow, but takes more deliberate steering in tight terrain.

Choose it for an advanced or expert tourer who prioritizes powder, bowls and substantial downhill lines. The 2027 SkiEssentials test describes strong downhill support for its weight and a distinctly touring-focused character. It gives up some firm-snow quickness and uphill efficiency to narrower touring skis, and its light construction is less suited to repeated rough resort laps than a heavier freeride ski. It makes most sense when soft-snow descents are a regular objective.

Construction & features

What the Zero G 105 is built from, and what that means on snow.

  1. 01

    Carbon Drive 3.0

Longitudinal carbon reinforcement adds downhill support and consistency while keeping the touring ski’s uphill weight controlled.

  2. 02

    Paulownia core

Paulownia reduces mass for long climbs, with the Carbon Drive structure supplying the additional support needed on the descent.

  3. 03

    Early-rise tip and tail

Early rise helps the wide ski plane in soft snow and makes release easier when the terrain tightens or the skier needs to pivot.

  4. 04

    Camber underfoot

Camber underfoot maintains useful contact and edge leverage on firm traverses, wind crust and technical hard snow.

  5. 05

    Partial ABS sidewalls

Partial ABS sidewalls give pressure a direct route to the edges while avoiding the weight of a full alpine sidewall build.

  6. 06

    Skis only

Bindings are sold separately; the manufacturer recommends a Pintech touring setup.
