Overview

The Atomic Maverick 96 CTI is a directional all-mountain ski for strong skiers who want edge support on groomers without giving up mobility in trees, bumps and softer snow. Its nominal 96 mm platform is the middle ground of the Maverick range: more float than a frontside ski, less bulk than the 105 or 115. SkiEssentials' 2027 test describes a graphic refresh over an otherwise unchanged build and positions it for all-mountain, groomer and freeride use.

The poplar-and-ash core, carbon and titanal CTI construction give the ski power underfoot without making it excessively heavy. All-Mountain Rocker and HRZN 3D shaping soften turn entry and add surface area in variable snow, while the directional shape still rewards a committed stance. Testers found strong edge grip and useful versatility, though one reported tip chatter on firm variable snow; the lighter tip and rocker favour mobility over the locked-in feel of a heavier carver.

Choose it for mixed resort days where groomer grip, trees and soft snow all matter. Advanced skiers will find the direct response rewarding, and some experts may prefer a longer length for stability. It is less specialised than the 88 CTI but less floaty than the 105. A dedicated piste ski is sharper on ice, while a wider freeride ski is easier in deep snow. Its appeal is the balanced middle ground.
